Court Monitor

MADD East Texas is seeking volunteers to participate in a DWI Court Case Monitoring initiative. This flexible initiative exposes volunteers to the realities of criminal litigation and can facilitate very valuable networking opportunities.

Volunteers may observe proceeding in Gregg County courts (downtown Longview) and/or Smith County courts (downtown Tyler).  From the cases observed, volunteers document DWI case outcomes and that information is then reported to area law enforcement.

While we cannot offer a salary, we can offer mileage reimbursement, bus fare, or parking fees for program related travel. We can also offer documentation of hours served and a letter of reference detailing your activities and performance to help build your professional portfolio.

The orientation and initial training is conducted at the Tyler MADD office, your campus, or at the court of your choosing. Please respond with the court you desire to monitor and we will work with you to establish an optimal start date. Please feel free to contact our office with any questions or concerns, 903-534-6000.
